Healthy homemade blueberry chia jam recipe is super simple and super delicious

I’ve always been a big fan of peanut butter and jelly. You really can’t go wrong with soft squishy bread smeared with salty peanut butter and cool sweet jelly. Is your mouth watering yet? Because mine is.

Homemade blueberry chia seed jam. A few natural ingredients make this recipe healthy, simple and delicious.

This was my go-to sandwich in college when I was in a rush, or just too lazy to make anything else {which let’s be honest, was quite often}. I did not have the best eating habits my senior year of college which lead to weight gain and not being conscience of reading nutrition labels.

After college I knew I had to make a change {like most of us figure out} and really started to pay attention to serving sizes on labels and the amount of sugar that a lot of packaged products have in them.

Even though store bought jellies and jams can be quick to pluck off the shelf, have you ever looked at how many grams of sugar is in just 1 Tbsp. of jelly? My favorite, raspberry, has 9 grams of sugar! Which may not seem like a lot, but have you ever actually measured out 1 Tbsp. of jelly? I didn’t think so…

Even the sugar free options may be “sugar free” but one look at that long list of ingredients, some I can’t even pronounce, and I know that it’s not something I should likely be putting into my body.

Now I’m no certified nutritionist, but I do try to watch what I’m putting into my body, and if I can make it at home, and it tastes just as good as the store bought version, why not go that route?

I’m not trying to make you feel bad for buying the store jelly {I know I do it more than I would like out of convenience} but this jam will likely change your feelings on buying jam from a grocery store.

Homemade blueberry chia seed jam recipe only takes 5 minutes to make!

I never knew I could make a flavor packed, no added sugar jam in just 5 minutes {no lie…only 5 minutes!}. Plus there’s added fiber from chia seeds and natural sweetness from the blueberries and honey.

Chia seeds can be purchased in the health foods section of your grocery store, or online. They’re tiny little seeds {with amazing health benefits} that plump up once they’re placed in liquid, which helps plump up the jam {anyone else have “Pump Up the Jam” just pop into their head?! ??}

Homemade blueberry chia seed jam can be made at any time and doesn't need to be canned. Toss all of your ingredients in the blender for a quick jam recipe from scratch.

You literally just toss all of the ingredients in the blender and blend until you reach the consistency you desire. You can also add more honey if you like a slightly sweeter jam, but 2 Tbsp. was plenty for me.

Homemade blueberry chia seed jam recipe is stored in a seal-able jar for up to two weeks.

I love it on toast, a traditional PB&J or on top of these waffles. The great part is that you can easily swap out the blueberries for your other favorite fruit, like raspberries, strawberries or mangos.

Take the chance and make your own jam in just 5 minutes! Let me know what your favorite way to use jelly or jam is in the comments.
